Brady is Food for my Soul

2016-12-06

Beulah and her grandchildrenWords from Beulah Haygood

Brady was part of our family for years in the Oxford St days. Father John walked into our lives several times, right on time. Bless his heart!

I started visiting Mass at Brady with just two of my 29 – soon to be 30 grandchildren. The preaching was spiritually clear and spoke to that void I had at another church, where I was getting bad vibes and feelings.  The welcoming feeling of “come as you are” without any judgment was overwhelming and comforting. The Lord’s lesson with Father John made church enjoyable.

I have five children and my family has grown up and out with Brady: the Norma Triche basketball clinic has taught my babies basketball skills; Vacation Bible School has given them a safe and learning-filled summer with field trips that I was able to experience with them; Christmas gift-giving has been a blessing by filling a need and my family is so, so appreciative. I myself like Bible study when I can attend.

I have been able to be a joyful giver by cooking, gardening, singing, farming and telling folks about Brady all the time. Mr. Flowers and Brady are a Godsend especially during Saturday and Sunday programming because they have become a stable discipline point for my children, and community children.

On simple days, every day, Brady does enough. Kevin and Emily, Father John and Mr. Trevor… I am so tremendously thankful for the staff and volunteers at Brady.  They are family! Brady is family! Brady is there for Baptisms, conversation through life situations, and helping but not judging. Brady makes life easier when emergencies arise. Brady is food for my soul. AMEN!!!
